electric gyro

electric gyro
A gyroscope propelled by electricity. Almost all modern gyros are electrically driven. Earlier-era gyroscopes were air-driven. Air-driven gyroscopes are still used in sailplanes, gliders, and some light aircraft. Electrical gyros are now giving way to ring laser gyros.
